In a significant development, the Senior Special Assistant to the Senate President on Political Affairs, Engr. Aniekan Abraham welcomed members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a ceremony held at the Council Secretariat in Ikot Ibritam, Oruk Anam Local Government Area.

The defection ceremony was attended by prominent stakeholders, including Elder Sunday Festus, Executive Chairman of Oruk Anam LGA; Hon. Sampson Idiong, Deputy Chief Whip of AKHA; Dr. Ekem John, Honorable Commissioner for Health; Rt. Hon. Kingsley Frank, Immediate Past Chairman of the Local Content Council; and Sir Udo Kierian Akpan, Immediate Past Member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.

This marked a significant boost for the APC in the area. The ceremony was also attended by notable APC members, including former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Atuekong Don Etiebet, Deputy State Chairman, Dr. David Umoessien and other stakeholders.

In his remarks, Engr. Abraham praised Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, for his foresight in linking Akwa Ibom to the center, which has brought unity to the state. He urged the people of Oruk Anam to support President Bola Tinubu, Governor Pastor Umo Eno, and Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio in 2027.

The chapter chairman of APC, Elder Christopher Nelson, welcomed the defectors and assured them of equal rights and privileges within the party.

This development demonstrates the growing strength and appeal of the APC in Akwa Ibom State.
