Senator Mark’s claim that the Senate has become a mere cheerleader for the executive is baseless and appears to stem from his expectation that the Senate should antagonize,harass, distract, and frustrate the executive.
The Senate, under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, is playing its constitutional role of oversighting on the executive arm of government effectively, ensuring accountability and transparency without acting as a stumbling block or becoming a cog in the wheel of progress of the country. This balanced approach has enabled the Senate to provide checks and balances while also supporting the executive’s initiatives that benefit the nation. The Senate’s collaborative approach with the executive has yielded significant results, including the passage of key bills and resolutions that have improved the lives of citizens
The maturity, political sagacity, and dexterity, administrative acumen, legislative competence, and charisma demonstrated by Senator Godswill Akpabio are precisely the qualities required of a Senate President at this critical juncture in our nation’s history.
