The recent appointment of Ms. Usoro Offiong Akpabio as the Managing Director-designate of the South-South Development Commission has been a focal point of these malicious reports. Contrary to false narratives being peddled, Ms. Usoro Offiong Akpabio is not related to Senator Godswill Akpabio, nor does she share the same local government, federal constituency, or senatorial district with the Senate President. These facts are verifiable, and Premium Times’ publication of false information is a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation and undermine the Senator’s reputation.
The APC-MN demands that Premium Times adheres to the principles of responsible journalism, including thorough investigation and verification of facts before publication. We call on the management of Premium Times to take immediate action to correct these false narratives and uphold the highest standards of journalism.
We warn that those using Premium Times to publish falsehoods against Senator Godswill Akpabio will be held accountable for their actions. The APCMN will continue to monitor the situation and take necessary steps to protect the reputation of the Senator and his office.
