The All Progressives Congress Media Network is compelled to respond to recent claims made by Ambassador Umar Damagun, Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), regarding their prospects in the upcoming gubernatorial and other elections in Akwa Ibom State.

The facts are clear: the PDP’s influence in Akwa Ibom has been decisively diminished following the mass defection of Governor Umo Eno and an overwhelming majority of the state’s elected officials and government functionaries to the APC. This exodus signifies the end of the PDP’s relevance in the state.

The PDP must come to the realization that its time in Akwa Ibom State has long expired. Once regarded as a dominant force, akin to a religion in the state, the party’s influence has waned significantly. The mass defection of key stakeholders, including Governor Umo Eno, to the APC is a testament to the party’s diminishing relevance. It’s time for PDP leaders like Ambassador Umar Damagun to accept that their party’s chapter in Akwa Ibom State has closed permanently

Governor Umo Eno’s remarkable performance over the past twenty-seven months has earned him widespread acclaim and support from the people of Akwa Ibom. His leadership has been marked by impactful initiatives and policies that have improved the lives of Akwa Ibom citizens. Given his impressive track record, it is a foregone conclusion that he will be re-elected with overwhelming support.

The APC’s momentum in Akwa Ibom is undeniable. Our party’s growing presence and influence in the state position us for a clean sweep in the upcoming electoral cycle. We are confident that our message of good governance, accountability, and development will resonate with the people of Akwa Ibom. The APC has firmly established its roots in Akwa Ibom, and we are committed to continuing our engagement with the people, addressing their needs, and delivering on our promises.
