APC Media Network Responds to Solomon Dalung’s misrepresentation of Senate Functions

The All Progressives Congress Media Network (APC-MN) feels it is essential to address the recent remarks made by Solomon Dalung, former minister of Sports, which inaccurately portray the Senate under the leadership of Godswill Akpabio as merely a rubber stamp for the executive branch of government.

We firmly assert that these claims are baseless and reflect a significant misunderstanding of the Senate’s constitutional responsibilities.

Under Senator Akpabio’s stewardship, the Senate has been proactively engaging in its oversight duties, ensuring that the executive branch remains accountable for its actions. The Senate’s partnership with the executive is focused on delivering the benefits of democracy to Nigerians rather than hindering the nation’s progress.

It is clear that individuals like Solomon Dalung, who anticipate a contentious relationship between the legislative and executive bodies, are misled. Such expectations stem from a misconceived understanding of governance and the tenets of effective leadership.

The APC-MN attributes Mr. Dalung’s remarks on frustration and a lack of political insight. The Senate, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, is unwaveringly devoted to its constitutional obligations, diligently working to represent and safeguard the interests of the Nigerian populace.

The All Progressives Congress Media Network reaffirms its support for the Senator Godswill Akpabio-led Senate and its commitment to good governance. We urge Nigerians to disregard Mr. Dalung’s misinformed remarks and instead focus on the Senate’s tangible achievements in promoting the nation’s progress.
